HarvXtra™ alfalfa contains the biotechnology-derived trait developed to improve the quality of alfalfa compared to commercially available alfalfa harvested at the same growth stage by reducing the amount of lignin in the plant.  This trait technology is designed to ease the yield versus quality trade-off currently faced by alfalfa producers by sustaining forage quality over a longer period.  By doing this, HarvXtra™ alfalfa provides growers with greater flexibility and a wider cutting window to maximize yield potential.
HarvXtra™ alfalfa gives growers the option to:

1. Maintain current harvest schedule to obtain forage that is more likely to meet or exceed the intended forage quality targeted by the grower

OR

2.  Delay harvest a few days to obtain higher tonnage while maintaining acceptable forage quality
